In a busy city that was bustling with the smells of a myriad of different kinds of food, a group of individuals who truly respected the art of cooking had settled. For them, taste wasn’t limited to consumption—it was a sensation to be explored and appreciated, certainly not taken for granted. These people, my people, saw the modern tools of food as having been transformed into appearance, experience, and, above all, access. This is the story of my people.
Excited to distribute their passion and findings, they started a community-friendly platform that focuses on the exploration of food and its many facets. What they introduced to their like-minded folks was an entirely new way to experience food, a concept where everything was turned inside out and upside down and exposed to hungry eyes, where there was nothing to hide and much to reveal.
The initial gem the group decided to feature was the “Direct To Consumer Fine Wines to your Door” concept. What could be better for a wine lover? They could bypass the mall distributor and the wine shop, forget about crowding into the wine cellar full of drunken, stale air, or mailing an iffy parcel to a friend, not knowing if it would arrive intact. No, the wine club was a grand, new, direct idea whose time had come.
However, the astonishments didn’t stop with the centuries. A second possibility was the crown jewel, a discovery so distinctive as to set it apart from all others. In membership with the wine program, it elevated any day, from the routine to the most special, to something singular.
For people who longed for a more physical connection, finding high-quality beef straight from the farmer’s hand was as close as they could get to the land of plenty. But not just any beef. We are talking lip-smacking, brain-tingling, you-never-want-to-stop-eating-it kind of beef, the kind of beef that you could have married if it were legal, the kind that you daydream about and come back to all the time. And when there was beef, there was almost always a good bottle of wine. Together, they were the stuff of culinary dreams, the otherworldly experiences the food magazines swap like baseball cards.
Just as the community grew, so did the opportunities for its members to experience and enjoy the incredible world of food. This place was a place of excitement and exploration. Just by being there, you found yourself involved in one food-related experience or another. It was a place in which to savor not only the food on your plate, but also the unique paths that food took to reach it. And, if you were bitten by the “food bug,” it was a place to stay and work toward greater financial independence, and to offer a hand to others in finding the same.
In this place of tastes and smells, the mavens of food had come together to brighten the world one shared repast at a time. And for those not among their number but feeling pull, an e-click put KitchenShare in motion, a trip with these food lovers.
